A 2D-ECHO is an ultrasound scan of the heart. It shows how well your heart is pumping and whether the valves and chambers are working normally. It is safe, painless and uses no radiation.

What is the difference between an ECG and a 2D-ECHO?

An ECG records the heart's electrical activity, such as its rhythm and rate. A 2D-ECHO uses ultrasound to create moving pictures of the heart, showing its size, pumping strength, valves and the walls between the chambers.

The two tests answer different questions, so doctors often advise both. Both are available at Prasanna Poly Clinic.

Why might my doctor advise a 2D-ECHO?

A 2D-ECHO is commonly advised for breathlessness, swelling of the legs, a heart murmur heard during examination, long-standing high blood pressure or an abnormal ECG.

It is also used to follow up known heart disease, to check the heart after a heart attack, and as a pre-operative evaluation before some surgeries.

How do I book a 2D-ECHO at the clinic?

2D-ECHO is done on scheduled days. Please call or WhatsApp +91 94812 51274 to know the next available day and book a slot.

If you have been referred by another doctor, bring the referral note, your recent ECG and any previous echo reports. The clinic's consulting cardiologist, Dr. Rajappa, sees patients who need specialist heart care.
