Heart problems are easier to manage when they are caught early. Dr. Vijaykumar S.H — an International Associate Member of the American College of Cardiology — screens and follows up heart patients, and our consulting cardiologist Dr. Rajappa sees patients who need specialist care. ECG and 2D-ECHO are done right here.
Who should get a heart check-up?
A heart check-up is useful if you have chest discomfort, breathlessness on walking, palpitations or swelling of the feet. It is also advised for people with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking habits, or a parent or sibling who had heart disease at a young age.
Many heart problems give few symptoms in the early stages. Regular BP checks, an ECG and blood tests for sugar and cholesterol can find risk factors early, when lifestyle changes and medicines work best.
What heart tests are available at the clinic?
A 12-lead ECG can be done within minutes during your visit. Dr. Vijaykumar has completed an Advanced Course in ECG Interpretation and reviews the ECG straight away. Blood tests such as lipid profile, sugar and HbA1c are done at the in-house Jan Seva Lab.
2D-ECHO, an ultrasound scan of the heart, shows how well the heart is pumping and whether the valves are working normally. It is done on scheduled days, so please call or WhatsApp to book a slot.
When does the cardiologist visit?
Dr. Rajappa, Cardiologist, consults at Prasanna Poly Clinic on fixed days. Please call or WhatsApp +91 94812 51274 to check the next available day before you come.
On other days, the family physician can do the first evaluation, ECG and blood tests, and then arrange a cardiologist review if it is needed. This saves time and avoids repeat tests.
